Praised by Süddeutsche Zeitung for “a heavenly sound that struck the Hercules Hall,” and described by pianist Dang Thai Son as “a born talent who has reached the highest level of pianistic professionalism,” Jae-Yeon Won gained international recognition as the Second Prize and Audience Prize winner at the 61st Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, and has also won top prizes at the Ferrol International Piano Competition in Spain and the Karl Robert Kreiten Prize in Germany, among others. As a soloist, Won has appeared with prominent orchestras including the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Sinfónica de Galicia, Haydn Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and the KBS Symphony Orchestra, performing under the batons of Ulrich Windfuhr, Arvo Volmer, Enrique García Asensio, Yoon Kuk Lee, and Darrell Ang. He has been invited to perform at prestigious venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Alte Aula Heidelberg University, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Teatro Ricardo Castro in Mexico, and the Munich Hercules Hall. His performances have been broadcast by major European networks such as BR-Klassik (Germany), France Musique, RNE (Spain), RAI (Italy), and ORF (Austria), with BR-Klassik regularly featuring his live recordings and albums. In addition to his solo career, Won was recently appointed Artistic Director of the ARKO Ensemble under the Korea Arts Council, successfully leading its founding performances in Vienna and Salzburg. His debut album Bach to Bartók was released by the German label Acousence in 2020, and he was named a Steinway Artist in 2023. His upcoming recordings are set to be released under the UK-based label Onyx Classics for the 2025 season.
